Melody of Colours

Colour massed by the hundred: small amethysts, rubies, pink sapphires and tsavorites crowded over full gold forms until the surface reads as one tone.

Pair of Gatsby medium hoop earrings in yellow gold, each a thin oval lined with pavé diamonds, on a pale grey ground.

Gatsby

A line of pavé drawn as a single straight stroke (a bar on a chain, a band, a hoop), the geometry of a 1920s diamond bracelet pared to one gesture.

Gatsby is restraint by design: one row of white diamonds, ruled straight, on a bar, a band or a hoop, meant to be stacked with others. Messika took its cue from 1920s diamond bracelets and the freedom of the women who wore them. Melody of Colours went the other way entirely. De Grisogono's high jewelry of the early 2010s covered full gold volumes with hundreds of amethysts, rubies, pink sapphires and tsavorites, until a single earring became a cloud of one colour. A line, then, against a mass.
