Lily Cluster

Interlacing petals of small pavé-set round diamonds, accented with a single marquise, form a lily caught mid-bloom.

Bouton d'or

Van Cleef & Arpels

Bouton d'or

Little discs of gold, each with a stone at its centre, massed in rows and rings like the head of a buttercup.

Sequins of 1936 return in Bouton d'or, where Van Cleef & Arpels masses gold discs, each with a stone in the middle, into buttercup heads in yellow gold with diamonds, onyx, carnelian or mother-of-pearl; the revival dates from 2016. Harry Winston had done something similar six years earlier, turning drawings from the early 1940s into the pavé petals and single marquise of Lily Cluster. In the buttercup gold leads, bold and polished. In the lily it all but disappears under fine white stones.
