Les Pétales Place Vendôme

Cupped rose petals of pavé diamonds drift against a round pearl, as if blown across the Place Vendôme.

Frivole

Van Cleef & Arpels

Frivole

A flower of heart-shaped petals in gold polished to a mirror, so smooth the bare metal throws light like a stone.

For Frivole and Les Pétales Place Vendôme alike, the petal is the unit. Van Cleef & Arpels shapes Frivole's as hearts, a form found on its clips of the 1940s, and polishes them by hand to a mirror. Mikimoto shapes its petals as cupped planes of pavé diamonds and lets them float loose against a pearl, as though over the Place Vendôme. Frivole reflects with bare gold; Les Pétales glitters with stones and glows with nacre, a rose taken apart rather than a flower assembled.
