Repossi

Berbère

Parallel rows of gold joined into a single ring, so one piece looks like a stack of bands.

Perlée

Van Cleef & Arpels

Perlée

The house's oldest ornament, the polished gold bead, made into the whole jewel: bangles, rings and hoops lined with rows of tiny golden spheres.

In Berbère, Gaia Repossi joins smooth parallel bands into one, under a name taken from Berber jewelry, and has lacquered them in colour as Berbère Chromatic. In Perlée, Van Cleef & Arpels lines its rings with rows of tiny polished beads, the house's oldest ornament given its own line in 2008. Both rings are built in rows. Repossi's surface is flat and architectural; the Perlée surface is granular, catching light at every sphere.
