Tubogas

A band of gold wound tightly round itself like the flexible pipe of a gas line, tubo gas, so it springs round the wrist or neck without a hinge.

Berbère

Parallel rows of gold joined into a single ring, so one piece looks like a stack of bands.

Berbère looks like a stack and is a single ring: Gaia Repossi fused parallel rows of gold into one piece, the line that made her name after she took over her family's house in 2007. Its name nods to Berber jewelry, its lines to modern art. Tubogas also reads as many bands, though every ridge belongs to one band of gold wound on itself, the coil Bulgari first made in 1941. Repossi's rows sit still on the finger, whereas the Roman coil gives and springs back.
