Juste un Clou

A single gold nail bent round the wrist until its head lies beside its point.

Juste un Clou began as a New York idea in 1971: Aldo Cipullo took the nail, the most ordinary of fasteners, and bent it in gold until head and point lay together on the wrist. Nearly half a century later Claire Choisne looked at a different everyday object, the audio cable, and made Jack de Boucheron from it, a supple gold cord closed by a faceted plug. Where Cipullo's nail holds one rigid curve, Choisne's cable winds once or three times round, or opens into a necklace.
