Juste un Clou at Cartier

The story

Two years after the screw, Aldo Cipullo turned to the nail at Cartier New York in 1971. Cartier renamed the piece Juste un Clou and brought it back in 2012 for the house's 165th anniversary, growing it into rings, earrings, torque necklaces and diamond-set bangles.

    LOVE, Cartier (1969)

Two years after the screw bracelet, Aldo Cipullo bent a single nail round the wrist, so the hardware became the whole form.

  • Clash de Cartier ring, medium model, in rose gold: rows of spikes around a central band of square studs, on a pale grey ground.

    Clash de Cartier, Cartier (2019)

Cartier's taste for hardware turns punk: square studs, spikes and beads set in a mesh that moves under the finger.
