Tiffany Lock

A bangle drawn as the elongated shackle of a padlock, whose clasp swivels and clicks shut like the lock it imitates.

Archives feed both. Juste un Clou was Aldo Cipullo's nail bangle of 1971, renamed and relaunched by Cartier in 2012 for the house's 165th anniversary. Tiffany Lock, from 2022, reaches further back, to a gold padlock brooch made for a couple in 1883. The nail curls round the wrist with nothing to open, head resting beside point; the padlock's shackle swivels on a clasp and clicks shut. Each has since spread beyond the bangle, the nail into torque necklaces, the padlock into pendants and hoops.
