Boucheron

Quatre

Four bands, each carrying one archive motif (grosgrain ribbing, a line of diamonds, Clou de Paris facets, a double gadroon) pressed together into a single ring.

Tulle

Buccellati

Tulle

A half-millimetre sheet of gold pierced by hand into hundreds of minute hexagonal cells, so the metal reads like net lace.

Lace from Milan meets ribbon from Paris. Mario Buccellati based Tulle on Venetian needle lace in the 1920s, sawing thin gold into a mesh of tiny hexagons by hand. Quatre's textile is grosgrain: one of its four bands is ribbed like the ribbon, joined in 2004 to Clou de Paris, a line of diamonds and a double gadroon. Tulle lets light through its lattice, while Quatre is solid gold all the way across, its four textures pressed tight.
