Quatre

Four bands, each carrying one archive motif (grosgrain ribbing, a line of diamonds, Clou de Paris facets, a double gadroon) pressed together into a single ring.

Tubogas

A band of gold wound tightly round itself like the flexible pipe of a gas line, tubo gas, so it springs round the wrist or neck without a hinge.

Nearly fourteen grams of gold sit in a Quatre ring, made from four bands pressed together without glue or solder. Solange Azagury-Partridge assembled it at Boucheron in 2004 from archive motifs: grosgrain ribbing, a line of diamonds, Clou de Paris facets, a double gadroon. Tubogas carries its weight another way, as one band of yellow gold wound into a supple coil, which Bulgari first made in 1941. The Paris ring is a sampler of a house's history; the Roman bracelet repeats a single gesture all the way round the arm.
