Elsa Peretti Bone Cuff

A cuff modelled on the bones of the wrist, its edges rolled and its surface dipped, so the metal reads as anatomy rather than ornament.

Quatre was assembled from a house archive, the Bone Cuff from the human skeleton. Solange Azagury-Partridge built the ring at Boucheron in 2004 out of four historic motifs, grosgrain, a line of diamonds, Clou de Paris and a double gadroon, each a separate band joined by pressure. Elsa Peretti, Florence-born and designing for Tiffany from 1974, had shaped her cuff in 1970 to follow the wrist, its edges rolled and its surface hollowed. Quatre compresses a Paris house's past into one ring; the cuff holds no past but the body's.
