Quatre

Four bands, each carrying one archive motif (grosgrain ribbing, a line of diamonds, Clou de Paris facets, a double gadroon) pressed together into a single ring.

Belle Époque

Round diamonds alternating with rubies, sapphires or emeralds round a band, like frames on a reel of film running past.

Diamonds take up one of Quatre's four bands, sharing the ring with ribbed and faceted gold. On Belle Époque they share the band only with colour, ruby, sapphire or emerald in turn, like frames on a reel of film, a tribute to 1920s Paris from Enrico Grassi Damiani's sketches. Boucheron's ring of 2004 is about metal worked several ways at once. Damiani's is about light and colour in strict alternation, with the gold barely visible between the stones.
