The Cable Collection

Strands of metal twisted into a helix and bent into an open cuff, its two ends capped with gold and a coloured stone.

David Yurman has cited the ancient torques at the Metropolitan Museum of Art behind the twisted helix of Cable, first made in 1982. Bulgari looked to the Colosseum for B.zero1 in 1999, turning its curved tiers into a spiral that climbs the finger between two rims engraved with the house's name. Yurman's piece is an open cuff, its ends capped with coloured stones. The Roman ring closes on itself, as graphic as a logo and partly made of one.
