The Cable Collection

Strands of metal twisted into a helix and bent into an open cuff, its two ends capped with gold and a coloured stone.

Cable is a helix; Ice Cube is a grid. David Yurman first shaped his twisted strands into an open cuff in 1982, finishing the ends with gold caps and a coloured stone. Chopard's 1999 line sets out its gold as a row of small chamfered blocks, the grooves between them cut with diamond-tipped tools. Yurman's piece looks hand-wrought, a sculptor's twist; Chopard's looks precisely machined, and the house says the tools took almost ten years to get right before each corner was finished by hand.
