LOVE

A rigid oval of gold closed by two working screws, so the bracelet goes on with a screwdriver and stays on.

Thirty years and two unrelated ideas separate them. LOVE, drawn by Aldo Cipullo at Cartier New York in 1969, is a rigid gold oval closed by two working screws, sold with a screwdriver and meant to stay on; the screw head is its only ornament. Bulgari's B.zero1 of 1999, launched as jewelry leaned towards minimalism, is a spiral band that coils up the finger like the tiers of the Colosseum, between two rims engraved BVLGARI BVLGARI. Cipullo made a lock of a bracelet; Bulgari made a monument of a ring.
