A diadem shrunk to the finger: a pear-cut stone rising from scrolled arcs, the way an aigrette rises from a tiara.

Piaget Solstice

Cocktail rings built like drinks: a large coloured centre stone dressed with gem garnish that opens away so the stone can be worn alone.

Objects from far beyond the hand were shrunk onto these rings. Chaumet's, in 2010, was the diadem: Joséphine raises a pear-cut stone from scrolled arcs as an aigrette rises from a tiara, a nod to the empress Chaumet once served. Piaget's, in 2022, was the cocktail: Solstice dresses a large coloured stone with gem garnish that opens away, pink sapphire for grenadine, carved peridot for lime. The coronation of 1804 and a party on the longest night: both rings wear their sources openly.
