Cocktail rings built like drinks: a large coloured centre stone dressed with gem garnish that opens away so the stone can be worn alone.

The Tiffany Setting

Six slender prongs lift a round brilliant diamond clear of the band, so the stone, not the mount, carries the ring.

A cocktail and a vow. Solstice, Piaget's high jewelry story of 2022, builds rings like drinks: pink sapphires for grenadine, emeralds for mint, rough diamonds for ice, carved peridot for lime, arranged so the garnish opens away and the centre gem can be worn alone. The Tiffany Setting of 1886 is the opposite gesture, one round diamond on six prongs with nothing to remove. Geneva stages a party on the longest night; New York produced the plainest sign of an engagement.
