Precious Lace

Diamonds set in scalloped gold openwork that reads like antique lace, cut into tutu ruffles, waves and hearts.

Giardino

A four-petalled flower in openwork gold with a lace edge, set with one stone at its heart, taken from the gardens of Isola Madre on Lake Maggiore.

Openwork and a lace edge appear in both, which makes the difference in scale telling. Mellerio's Giardino is a four-petalled flower with one stone at its centre, taken from the island garden of Isola Madre; its Mini version, a rose-gold charm, starts at €900. Chopard's Precious Lace multiplies the scallops into ruffles and waves of diamonds, a line the house places between fine and high jewelry, from €11,900. At Mellerio the lace frames a flower; at Chopard the lace becomes the flower.
