Africa

Slightly lopsided beads of 18k yellow gold, each scored by hand with a burin into thousands of fine lines, strung in graduated rows so the satin surface glows rather than shines.

Cinema runs through Belle Époque. Damiani worked from sketches Enrico Grassi Damiani made after a trip to Paris, a tribute to the city of the 1920s and its screen muses, and set diamonds alternating with rubies, sapphires or emeralds round the band like frames on a reel. Africa keeps its own rhythm in gold alone, graduated beads in rows, each one scored with a burin until the yellow metal turns to satin.
