Belle Époque

Round diamonds alternating with rubies, sapphires or emeralds round a band, like frames on a reel of film running past.

Berbère

Parallel rows of gold joined into a single ring, so one piece looks like a stack of bands.

Paris is in both stories. Enrico Grassi Damiani sketched what became Belle Époque after a visit to the city, recalling its 1920s screen idols; Gaia Repossi built Berbère there, at her family's house, from parallel rows of gold. Damiani's band is a sequence of diamonds and coloured stones. Repossi's is a set of fused gold lines, plain or paved, sometimes lacquered in colour. Damiani speaks in gems; Repossi keeps to structure.
