Le Cube Diamant

A round diamond held inside an open gold cube, the circle set against the square.

Softened corners against hard ones. Albion's stone is cut as a cushion, a square rounded off, and held in a slim bezel, often with a halo of pavé, in silver or yellow gold; David Yurman chose colour for it, from blue topaz to turquoise. Le Cube Diamant keeps its corners sharp: an open gold cube around a round diamond, Jean Dinh Van's 1971 study of the circle and the square. Yurman puts the square in the stone, Dinh Van in the metal.
