Serti sur Vide

A diamond held on a hidden bar so it seems to hover above the finger or the ear, with nothing visible beneath it.

Emptiness is the material in both. Jean Dinh Van built Le Cube Diamant in 1971 by working solids against voids, setting a round diamond inside an open gold cube so the air around it becomes part of the design. Repossi's Serti sur Vide, setting on emptiness, took the void further in 2014, placing the stone on a hidden bar so it seems to float above the skin with nothing beneath it. The cube frames the empty space. Gaia Repossi stands the stone on it.
