Catene

The plump gourmette link Pomellato has made since its first season, blown up and softened until three or four articulated links become the whole ring.

Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard sprinkle necklaces in 18k yellow gold, bezel-set diamonds spaced along fine chains, hanging against a peach ground with evergreen sprigs.

Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard

Diamonds set flat in thin gold bezels and spaced along a fine chain, so the stones seem scattered on the skin rather than mounted.

Scale is the difference. Elsa Peretti's chain for Diamonds by the Yard, introduced at Tiffany in 1974, is as fine as thread, there to carry diamonds and then disappear. Pomellato's Catene, launched by Vincenzo Castaldo in 2021, does the opposite with the gourmette link the house has made since 1967, inflating and softening it until three or four articulated links make a ring. Diamonds arrived on Catene only in 2023, and even then the gold link stayed the subject.
