Granelli

Small gold grains with dimpled surfaces, threaded side by side so a bracelet reads as a line of Mauritian sand.

Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard sprinkle necklaces in 18k yellow gold, bezel-set diamonds spaced along fine chains, hanging against a peach ground with evergreen sprigs.

Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard

Diamonds set flat in thin gold bezels and spaced along a fine chain, so the stones seem scattered on the skin rather than mounted.

For Diamonds by the Yard, Elsa Peretti set stones flat in thin gold bezels along a fine chain at Tiffany in 1974, so they seem scattered on the skin and can be worn lightly every day. DoDo began twenty years later with Granelli, dimpled gold grains modelled on the sand of Mauritius and sold one by one, so a bracelet on a cord can fill up over the years. Both made precious jewelry modular: chain bought by the length, gold bought by the grain.
