Quatre

Four bands, each carrying one archive motif (grosgrain ribbing, a line of diamonds, Clou de Paris facets, a double gadroon) pressed together into a single ring.

Ice Cube

A band divided into small gold cubes with chamfered edges, so light breaks across it like ice.

Small geometric facets cover part of one ring and all of the other. On Quatre they belong to the Clou de Paris band, a hobnail pattern Boucheron has used since 1911 and one of four motifs pressed into the ring in 2004. On Ice Cube they are the whole surface: Chopard's 1999 band of tiny gold cubes, each corner chamfered by hand. At close to fourteen grams of gold, Quatre is a heavy ring. Ice Cube is slight enough to be worn several at a time.
