Diamonds set flat in thin gold bezels and spaced along a fine chain, so the stones seem scattered on the skin rather than mounted.
Hawaii is a chain of hundreds of tiny gold rings, each coiled by hand from twisted thread, filo ritorto, and linked like the flowers of a garland; Mario Buccellati drew it in the 1930s after the leis of the islands. Elsa Peretti's Diamonds by the Yard, four decades later, reduces the chain to its finest strand. From across a room Hawaii reads as a rope of gold, and the Tiffany chain as a few points of light on bare skin.
