The Cable Collection

Strands of metal twisted into a helix and bent into an open cuff, its two ends capped with gold and a coloured stone.

Allegra

de Grisogono

Allegra

Thin rings spiralled together so they look randomly stacked: one jewel that reads as many, wound around each other.

Twisted strands and twisted rings are two ways of making one piece look like several. David Yurman's Cable of 1982 winds metal into a helix and opens it into a cuff with stone-set caps. De Grisogono's Allegra of 2003 spirals thin rings round one another so a single band seems a random stack, Fawaz Gruosi's image of two people bound together. Cable became the permanent signature of a New York house. Allegra is now a historical line, its Geneva house without a storefront since its 2020 bankruptcy.
