Granelli

Small gold grains with dimpled surfaces, threaded side by side so a bracelet reads as a line of Mauritian sand.

Skinny rivière bracelet in white gold: a thin flexible line of diamonds forming a bangle, with a fine safety chain, on a pale grey ground.

Messika

Skinny

A rivière of diamonds made elastic: tiny springs between the settings let the line twist, stretch over the hand and close back round the wrist.

A single Granelli grain starts at €50; Skinny starts at €5,900. The gap measures what each puts on the wrist. DoDo has sold its grains individually since 1994, dimpled like Mauritian sand and threaded on cord to fill up over the years. Messika's line, developed in 2009, is a complete diamond rivière made elastic by tiny springs, stretching over the hand and closing round the wrist. Both are chains that bend to the body, one collected piece by piece, the other arriving whole.
