Pepita

Gold beads shaped like pebbles worn smooth by the sea, each a little irregular, threaded into bracelets, rings and earrings meant for anyone.

Skinny rivière bracelet in white gold: a thin flexible line of diamonds forming a bangle, with a fine safety chain, on a pale grey ground.

Skinny

A rivière of diamonds made elastic: tiny springs between the settings let the line twist, stretch over the hand and close back round the wrist.

Pepita takes the sea as its maker. DoDo's beads, launched in 2000, imitate pebbles rounded by waves and wind, each slightly uneven, threaded into bracelets meant for anyone. Skinny takes engineering instead. Valérie Messika's line of 2009 runs a continuous strand of diamonds over nano springs so it can twist and stretch over the hand without breaking, turning the evening rivière into something for daytime. Pepita is meant to look found; Skinny is meant to look weightless.
