Africa

Slightly lopsided beads of 18k yellow gold, each scored by hand with a burin into thousands of fine lines, strung in graduated rows so the satin surface glows rather than shines.

Berbère

Parallel rows of gold joined into a single ring, so one piece looks like a stack of bands.

Berbère, the line that made Gaia Repossi's name after she took over her family's house in 2007, nods to Berber jewelry in its title and to modern art in its parallel rows of gold, fused into a single ring that reads as a stack. Marco Bicego's Africa is defined by technique instead: beads of yellow gold scored by hand with a burin, kept slightly irregular, and strung in graduated rows that glow rather than shine.
