The story

In 1975 Jean Dinh Van set out to make the perfect bangle, plain and free of any mechanism. He worked the gold by hand until it was supple enough to open and stiff enough to keep its shape, then flattened one end and cut a clasp that recalls a lock. The lock reappeared a year later in the Menottes.

A year after the lock-clasp bangle, Jean Dinh Van let the fastening take over: two half-rings hooked like handcuffs.
